You should practice meditation.
Not the crazy transpersonal ones people talk about when they mention meditation, but rather the simplest, most bare-bones techniques - as they are what brings the biggest result in exchange for your time.
That is - concentration, praying, feeling the body, breath
Okay, but why tho ?
Because that is the only thing you can do which will help you in every circumstance you find yourself in
To explain this point let's take something that is usually thought of as providing the same thing - being smart. We call smart someone who knows how to act in a good way in the biggest variety of situations. Right ? If yes, then we have to see how someone usually becomes smart. Of course, we have to forget about getting born smart as believing in that isn't really useful so we are cursed to think only about what can we do to become smart - and the first thing that comes to mind probably is reading books ?
If the answer is still yes, we can follow that conclusion to - "someone who has read a lot of books is smart", right ?
Now, your gut reaction is probably no.
And that is certainly the right reaction, as we can observe a lot of well-read people who have no clue how to do anything in life, nor achieve anything.
So we have to make a very important distinction - "To get smart from reading, you also have to do stuff" Now we can take a look at someone who has learned a lot conceptually but also tested it in reality, by action
If we take a look at successful businessmen, sport players, or masters in any craft - be it carpentry or quantum mechanics, they have certainly read a lot or listened a lot to other people telling them what to do, but our professional reader who lives in his mum's basement touching his peepee and hating everything has also done that. But the difference is that they have taken that stuff and done business with it, shot hops, made shoes and computers - which instantly makes the book knowledge way more useful because they have seen how it translates to reality.
But how does it tie in to meditation you may ask ?
Pretty simply to be honest - by meditating you train yourself to focus on what is, not what ought to be because someone who has never lifted a shovel said so.
